Your Internet Marketing Success Depends on This

Posted: September 13th, 2009 | Author: Allen | Filed under: Affiliate marketing | Tags: , , , , | 2 Comments »

More often than not it’s related to mindset and habit (bad ones normally).  Most people who are overweight have bad eating habits.  The internet marketing equivalent is usually procrastination and thinking too much.  Too afraid to dive on in, too worried that they’ll crash and burn – so they stay on forums and read somemore.  Often hiding behind the fact that they dont know enough about x, y or z – too afraid to take a risk and follow through.

No matter how good that latest ‘Blueprint’ or business model is – even if the marketing guru sat down with them and ran through it in person – there’s a good chance that they’ll still fail.  Simply because, when the excitement dies down and motivation wanes – the doubt kicks in, along with any other negative habits that lead them to fail.

You have to adhere to something called behavioural congruency – it’s like the person who said they don’t have time to go to the gym but’ll spend 2 hours telling you about a crappy gameshow they watched last night.  What they say and what they do conflict completely.

So pick a business model, guru or blueprint to follow before:

1. Becoming someone who acts on information and follows through with it – even if doubt yourself

2. Stop procastination dead – give yourself 2 minutes to make a decision and go with it.

3. Never give up – stay focused on your dreams and if you fail, tweak the system and try again – it’s only by trying that you’ll ever find out what works for you.

Attitude is more than half the battle, lots of successful athletes had friends at school who were more talented and never made it to the finishing line because they got distracted, didn’t have the right attitude or quit.

Focus on your mindset as much as your knowledge and you’ll get to where you want to be a hell of a lot faster – that I know for sure!

My Affiliate Marketing “A-Ha” Moment

Posted: September 13th, 2009 | Author: Allen | Filed under: Quick & Easy Marketing Tips | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

Maybe you’re more clever than I am, however this short, simple tip changed my mindset and kick started my marketing career (the profitable one that is)!

It starts very negatively so make sure you read to the end!

Go into 10 niche markets and expect 7 to fail with 3 making you money.

This word of advice came from a quality internet marketer (one of the few I listen to and buy from).  It helped me because I always procrastinate and think too much.  Especially when it comes to niche selection.

So just get on with it and expect to fail 7 out of 10 times.

Not, after say 10 attempts (and beyond) you’re getting experience – something no affiliate marketing ebook (no matter how good) can provide you with.

With experience those 7 failures in 10 becomes 6, becomes 5, becomes 4 becomes 3…

With experience, from every 10 niches you go into, 7 will make money (heck maybe you just sell websites for the 3 that fail – someone will buy them).

Get going – get failing now!

Super Quick Tips to Superb Niche Selection

Posted: September 13th, 2009 | Author: Allen | Filed under: Quick & Easy Marketing Tips | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

This is a massive sticking point and the one hurdle that stops many newbie’s from making any money at all.

Getting around it isn’t as hard as you might think so here are some tips I use to kick myself up the ass…

  1. Is there competition?
  2. Are there affiliate products?
  3. Can you find several highly active niche forums?
  4. Can you promote several affiliate products (ie. a line of different products to the same market)?
  5. Is it possible to set up in the market very quick with minimum effort?

If you have competition then there is a market.  No competition means that either no one is interested, others have tried, failed and moved on or that you’ve genuinely struck gold.

Lots of affiliate products confirms the demand and makes it very easy for you to quick and easily invade the niche (ie. you don’t have to spend time creating your own products).

Highly active niche forums indicates it’s a hot market, people are interested and talking about the subject.  It is also the perfect place to research and find out the ‘hot buttons’ in that niche – what keeps those people awake at night.

A niche really needs to be broad enough so that you can cross promote other affiliate products.  A bank will sell you a checking account, a savings account, pitch for you to invest in stocks, get a mortgage, buy some life assurance.  The more you can promote, the better your bank account will look.

Can you set up quickly?  This is arguably the most important aspect because if you’re anything like me – you get bored, lose interest and try something different.  I’ve invaded niche’s in less than one day using methods mentioned in my newletters and emails.

Get going boyz and gurlz!

2 Reasons Why You Should Never Lose Sleep from the Unsubscriber

Posted: September 13th, 2009 | Author: Allen | Filed under: Quick & Easy Marketing Tips | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

Lets keep this marketing tip short & sweet…

We’re in the business of making money online – promoting other peoples stuff (affiliate marketing) and encouraging the sale through our list, our reviews etc.

Sure we want to build relationships but I know for sure that in the online world (just like the real one) there are some customers who do nothing other than waste your time.

They ask lots of questions but never buy, they’re on your list but never open the email, they expect quality content and help (ie. in your email) for nothing in return (ie. they don’t want you to sell to them).

A business made up of these people won’t go far….

So when it comes to your list – here’s why you shouldn’t lose sleep over unsubscribers:

  1. They are freebie seekers and wouldn’t have bought from you anyway.
  2. If you’re getting no ‘unsubscribers’ then you’re not selling hard enough.

Affiliate marketing is ultimately about making money, to live the lifestyle you want.

You need to find that thresehold (through testing) where you can generate as many sales as you can, even if it triggers a small percentage to unsubscribe, with your emails.

If no one is unsubscribing from your list – sell harder.

Good luck!

Targetted Traffic at the Push of a Button

Posted: September 10th, 2009 | Author: Allen | Filed under: Email Marketing Tips, List Building | Tags: , , , , | 1 Comment »

Quick tip – for years I put off building a list and stuck purely to having a website or pre-sell page.  I’d drive traffic to the site (usually using SEO or articles) and started to realise why I was always told I needed 100 hop links….

It’s because the average sales letter converts around 2 – 5%.  Getting 100 hops (recommended by the affiliate manager) was the surest way to motivate affilates and make sure they got some cash.

What does the average squeeze page (ie. designed to get people onto your list) convert at?  Since they are usually getting something for free (a pdf or newsletter) it’s much higher and typically around 10 – 20%.  Now – not only can your promote the same affiliate product, you can build a relationship to them and promote other products (including your own).

This was highlighted to me in a post by the (well paid) twenty-something Robert Plank.  He pretty much explains why you should build a list and the surest way to nurture it and NOT lose your subscribers.  In fact I think I do exactly what I’m not supposed to do by telling you about him – so our secret!

The hard work is without doubt at the beginning.  The time you are daunted by the technology, the pressures of creating quality content for your list and of course making money.  But think about it, if you created a product today – you’ve got a monster of a task getting thousands of people a) to that page and b) to convert to buyers.

If you’ve got a list of several thousand (and they’ve opted in so you know exactly what they’re interested in) and can share something that will help them – one email is all it takes and bang you got those 100 hops…. easy.

P.S.  Check out Robert Planks blog – one of his specialities is banging out quality sales copy super fast (it’s a simple systematic process you can follow) – even if you’re not interested – check out his free course for opting in for Fast Food Copywriting.  It’s day 2 or 3 where he shares a simple affiliate (or product creation) business plan that’s a no-brainer to follow.

3 Steps to Big-Time Affiliate Commission Checks

Posted: September 8th, 2009 | Author: Allen | Filed under: Affiliate marketing, Free Reports | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

Not too long ago I read about a ‘wannabe’ affiliate marketer that had spent over $60,000 trying to get started online.  Yep that’s right $60K!  Unbelieveable. On the flip side you’ve got those who are more shrewd with their money, reluctant to buy a domain name, hosting or set up an aweber account – total cost less than $30 per month – that’s amazing.

You see getting started online is much easier than people make it – that includes my (old) self).  In fact in one sentence I can share with you the secrets to online success through affiliate email marketing (or you can download the full report HERE).

Ready (don’t blink – you might miss it)…  Opt In > Send to Affiliate Product > Email periodically.

That’s it – the 3 step process that earns anything from a couple of thousand to a couple of hundred thousand dollars per year – regardless of whether you’re selling digital products, physical goods or a CPA marketer.  It doesn’t matter if you prefer SEO or Pay Per Click – that’s the model.

So remember:

1. For most sales letters only 2% of visitors buy – so don’t waste those other 98 people!  Promote the opt in – build your list and then send them to the sales page (via your thank you page).  Now you can promoted to them again and again – maybe the same offer, maybe a different offer.

2. Don’t sell to them – pre-sell them on the product.  Describe the problem, point them in the right direction with helpful (but incomplete) information and finish by plugging the product that solves their dilema completely.

3. Build a relationship with your list.  I’m sure we’ve all been on lists where you get sold to again, and again, and again.  I usually hit delete or unsubscribe.  Your email list is an asset – something that earn you money in minutes, one simple email and you pull down a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand dollars.  Provided you’re someone they like to listen to.
Jimmy D Brown – a bit of legend in the Internet Marketing field, has turned by income around and created this unique report on making big bucks online – after all he should know he does tens of thousands a month.

How I Knuckled Down, Got Focused & Built a Business with Affiliate Marketing

Posted: September 8th, 2009 | Author: Allen | Filed under: Affiliate marketing | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

If you’ve been struggling online for sometime, perhaps you’ve got several unfinished projects, get easily distracted by the news on internet marketing forums and the massive amount of daily emails that cross promote every product under the sun.

As a fledging internet marketer I had (and still have) several unfinished projects on the go.  I’d get bored, get to a difficult stage and start to procrastinate (eg. should I pay for that aweber account) or see a post on a forum where someone had just hit $100 per day – lose focus and I’d give whatever they were trying a go – from adsense, article marketing and CPA membership sites – I’ve been to them all.

Whilst I may not have known where I was going to find success – one thing was sure – it was going to be online and it was going to be using affiliate marketing.  That much was clear to me.  I like the idea of promoting other peoples products, focusing the the fun stuff and putting the money making machine in process.  Theres little better than coming home from holiday to find some money waiting for you (that was Thailand last year) without any worry of customer support, finding a new idea and creating YouTube video’s for a new product – that kinda scares me : )

My story started to get interesting when I changed direction and gave product creation a try.  It was something I had at the back of mind, something I wanted to at least try but after the affiliate checks started rolling in.  I wanted to at least make some affiliate money first but that didn’t come.  So I changed direction and before creating my first product I stumbled across some random forum that mentioned a name I’d never heard of.

I remember the forum and I remember the person who commented.  The post was short, to the point and a little crude but painted Jimmy D Brown in a good light and pretty much said that everything he did was amazing (that’s a polite rephrasing of the forum posting.  I’ve been online for over 2 years so was a little surprised I hadn’t heard of him and started to investigate.

Having bumbled along to his Jimmy’s squeese page for his Small Reports Fortune (ignore the music if you visit) – I read the sales page and bought it (yep another ebook).  It was genuinely different from everything else I’ve ever bought and tried.

Most course give an overview, a blueprint if you like.  The Small Reports Fortune was very different, it was step by step. It told me ‘why’ I had to do xyz and the how to go about it. After each chapter I knew exactly what to do at each point and there was never any doubt what I would have to do next.  I created my product, uploaded my sales page and sold my first copy of my ebook within 48 hours of going live.  Thank you Mr Brown!

Coming back to affiliate marketing.  With Jimmy D Brown now a trusted and reliable source of information I actually started to read his emails, then I started to delete the emails of other internet marketing folk and only read his.  That one clear sense of direction with A, B, C clarity was enough for me so when Affiliatenaire was rolled out – it was only a matter of time before I was going to join.

Two months in I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.  I’m building assets and a real business online – following the Affiliatenaire weekly updates (plus the supplements in between) I’m gettting somewhere online.  At this moment in time I can’t create a thorough review of Jimmy’s course – I can however tell you that where I failed before, I’m now light years ahead.

My concerns were that the course was going to be too slow (it is after all a 12 month course) and given that I have experience online I might get bored waiting.  Nope – not happened yet and I hold my hands up to getting behind schedule even though I only need 1 – 3 hours per week.  Time my girlfiend doesn’t miss.  Gone are those 3am bedtimes and getting up for work 4 hours later.

Life is much more balanced and I’m getting somewhere – slow and steady wins the race (and ironically it’s how all the 6 figure marketers got started).
