We all suffer from analysis paralysis, information overload and what I like to call … God-damn laziness!
I kid you not … I could an entire day doing stacks and achieving nothing. Then look back at my day and remind myself of everything I’ve learned, the new plans I’ve made and people I came across on the forums … reward myself for a productive day and then realise …
I’d actually done a BIG FAT nothing!
So here’s what’s working right now – I’m more productive and feeling quite good about it too.
First I downloaded this nifty little timer for Mozilla Firefox – Simple Timer
Then I set it for 33 minutes and 33 seconds … then I work.
THATS IT!
Just 33 minutes and 33 seconds of non-stop productive action – it’s stupidly simple and it WORKS wonders for me!
Why 33 minutes and 33 seconds my girlfriend asked?
Not sure – it’s a system used by Eugene Schwartz who’s one of the most famous copywriters of all time. He used a stopwatch, set it for 33 minutes and 33 seconds – then worked.
If I was to hazard a guess and turn it into a lesson overcoming procrastination – then I’d say Gene Schwartz couldn’t decide on how long exactly but figured there was no point wasting time on the small details and just made a decision with what rolled off the tongue quickest.
What happens when your time is up?
Simple you take a 5 minute break – check the forums, your emails, a blog or … you snoop.
Me … Now I live in England, we’re a nation of homeowners (or shopkeepers if you take the French viewpoint : ) and hardwired to want more and more property (so the media tells me) – I guess it could just be a basic need for shelter — so during my 5 minutes break I like to snoop!
Yep … you heard me … I snoop because I’m as nosey as they come (although I prefer to be called ‘curious’).
I’ve never been to the US or Austrailia or New Zealand or even many parts of the UK! So when I’m going through my emails and seeing what’s hot or not I just can’t help notice the senders address at the end.
Whack it into Google Maps and have a look at — your street — and boy do you have a nice (er) shack Mr Guru!
(… want to see where I live — mmm – you’re going to have to susbcribe!)
Anyway – keep on snooping — my 5 minutes are up : )

I’m passonate about martial arts … they take up somewhere between 10 and 20 hours of my week and have done for the past 15 years. So there was more than a little smile when I learned the new Karate Kid was about to be releashed and throughly enjoyed the remake.
What’s that gotta do with Affiliate Email Marketing?
Quite a lot really — or just Internet Marketing in general.
You see for a long time I was a ‘Jack of All Trades’ — bum marketing, thinking about product creation (but not actually doing it), learning loads, building a list, looking into CPA and never really getting anywhere.
I know I’m not the only one … we all do because we’re all in the same boat – trying to piece things together and make a (more than) decent living online, live the internet dream lifestyle and kick back with the 4 hour week.
Number #1 Reason for Failure?
As Jackie Chan would say in the Karate Kid “You need to focus more on your focus!”
“Same same” in the internet marketing, affiliate marketing, product creation world we all aspire to live and succed in. It takes a lot of focus. So when you see someone on the Warrior Forum (or where ever) pulling down a regular income with the XYZ method — give it a go and fall flat on your face — quiting isn’t an option.
Focus on your focus … pick yourself back up, dust yourself down and start doing it again. Test, tweak and see what happens.
Then improve everything.
Pick one thing … get good at it and then improve it everyday until you got yo’self an money making machine.
Number 2# Reason
Actually this isn’t a reason … someone said something to me and it hit a nerve. In a nutshell he was blaming everyone else for the information overload. We all know that there are a million and one ways to make money online … and that everyday you’re going to be exposed and hear a new one.
That doesn’t mean you have to listen to them!
Have some discipline and take responsibility for your own education and business development.
I’ll give you an example … Imagine the professional football player with a team of expert coaches, dieticians and all sorts of scientists around him. I can guarantee that he probably still has people coming up and telling him ‘You really need to do this … or eat that … or have you tried this exercise”.
How many do you think he listens to? A big fat zero because he knows there’s already a system in place for him that he shouldn’t deviate from because it works, it’s consistent and got him to where he needs to be.
Listen … when you’re knee deep in the internet marketing world, when everyone is teaching you how to sell online … you’re going to get ’sold to’ . For once … instead of buying try watching be curious and start learning from what they are doing.
I might even argue that the best way to build a stable business online isn’t by buying anything … it’s by watching and modelling someone who’s already making a ton of money already.
Someone like Lee McIntyre who has a slick system and openly admits that quite often — things don’t work out quite right — until you go back and work at them. That you need to pick one thing, get it right and then just put it on ’steroids’.
End of Lesson …
So pick one thing … focus on it until you get it working like a well-oiled machine and don’t listen to anything (or anyone) unless it’s absolutely positively 100% consistent with what you are doing right now (and will help it).

How do you go from being an insurance salesman to a 475,000 person list? It’s an interesting story.
The other day I was at a bookstore as I’m prone to do. And I saw this DVD called Tapping and it had a testimonial on it by Joe Vitale. I remembered last year that when I hung out with Joe and Pat, he mentioned that he did this thing called Tapping.
I bought the DVD and got sucked into a very fascinating story….
His name is Gary Craig. At age 30 he was making $18,000/year selling insurance. He met a man named Dick Oakley from Pace seminars who told him to use this simple affirmation:
“I earn, easily and consistently, $40,000 per year.”
I believe Pace seminars were originated by James W. Newman author of the outstanding book: “Release Your Brakes.” See, Dick told him he was driving with his brakes on.
And to change his income he needed to change the programming inside his head. He started with the affirmation of making $40,000 a year because that was more than double his income but still within what he believed was possible.
The other important part of the wording was “easily and consistently.” He didn’t say he had to grit his teeth and work 12 hour days.
He started saying that affirmation 20-30X per day, not knowing HOW he was going to do it. Before long, we exeeded the $40,000 a year, so he raised it to $60,000 then $80,000 up to $400,000.
It’s the best single thing I’ve ever read on doing affirmations.
At some point, he owned his own stock brokerage business but left that to start a web business! He created a whole self development method built around what someone else had already pioneered. Roger Callahan developed a method for eliminating phobias, anxiety and other things using an unusual method called “Tapping.”
Gary Craig worked with him for awhile then developed his USP which was basically the Roger Callahan method with the USP of SPEED.
He called his spinoff method “EFT” for emotional freedom technique.
He developed a program where others could get trained in his methods and developed what I’d call a massive affiliate base, even though it wasn’t your traditional affiliate method.
He innovated some cool things.
But the main points are these:
1. He created a whole ebook on his method that was his freebie on his web site. http://www.emofree.com/downloadeftmanual.asp As a result he built up a 475,000 person email list. He got a TON of links that ebook from other sites which gave him awesome seo juice.
2. He made his money on the back end selling dvd’s, workshops, certification and so forth.
3. He published a regular newsletter of articles and success stories to his email list.
There’s NOTHING here you don’t know how to do in that it’s things I talk about all the time.
The best source of traffic is affiliates. But he also worked the seo angle by putting all the newsletters on his web site which became a ton of content. http://www.emofree.com/archives.aspx
4. He put a lot of videos on his web site to pull people into his funnel.
Now, the point is NOT whether you think his method is valid or not. The point is he did the SAME things you know to do. Put success stories on your web sites and blogs. Have a great freebie to build your email list. Build an affiliate base. Publish content on your blog and use it for your seo.
What’s so fascinating about this is Gary Craig didn’t INVENT the core method. He took what Roger Callahan developed and put his own USP spin on it.
Speed. That’s always a great USP.
He added a great freebie, newsletters, a forum, and a heck of an affiliate base and people with a vested interest in his success.
The way he did that is a bit more complex than I have time to go into here. He innovated with a few clever ideas. But the point is, he followed a known model, added really great marketing to it and passion, and made it a huge success.
Unfortunately, all isn’t well for Gary. He had a heart attack and as such decided to retire, so his dvd’s aren’t for sale any longer. I offered to fulfill them for him and/or buy the rights to them but for his own reasons he declined.
The thing about Gary is he’s a relentless promoter. I admire that. He reminds me in that aspect of Joe Vitale. You know, Joe is a great promoter and relentless about it because he just flat out loves doing it.
If he DID want to sell his business, I’m sure he could sell it for millions. The assets he built up, the list, the affiliate base, the products, the inbound links have a very high value.
I don’t get that Gary did what he did for the money and I don’t get that he needs money from my very short conversation with him.

One of my earliest product purchases was from Kevin Riley’s Product Creation Labs. It was his Money Pumping Oilwells and it was a good buy. One that helped get me my first sale online.
That was a good feeling and an important one because when you know you can make $1 … you know you can make another and another and another …
Up until your make your first sale — internet marketing is just theory, a rumour and a dream.
The bizarre thing about Kevin Riley’s course is that it didn’t promise 4, 5 or even 6 figure pay days. All it promised was that you’d be drilling for oil … Sometimes you’d get nothing, sometimes you’d get a little and then — every now and then — you’d hit gold … black gold!
And the great thing … even if you didnt hit gold, at all — with lots of money pumping oilwells out there — each earning a little here, a little there you would make a steady and growing income. Starting and accepting small paydays is the real key to success (IMHO).
A mentality that’s so important. Instead of looking for the BIG PAY DAYS – just settle for setting up a small system that earns $5 a day. Add another, add another and before you know it you’ve got a full-time income, lots of experience and the abilty to really scale that income up.

Respected and trusted by newbies through to big named Guru’s … in fact I was listening to an audio with Willie Crawford yesterday and he drops Kevin Riley’s name when talking about focusing on one product at one time.
His courses on the Warrior Forum sell out repeatedly (… can you work out why?!)
Practises what he preaches and ( … more importantly) he has a lot of fun doing it.
As for his income … hey I don’t know what he earns but he’s livin’ the dream and lets face it …
It’s all about the results!
